Melody Movement with Melody Bear: Walking – Age 3  Parent Participation

Melody Movement featuring our dancing Diva, Melody Bear, introduces children to dance and movement using the natural actions of the body such as running, walking, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping.  It is structured to aid children’s physical development, coordination, spatial awareness, sensory development, creativity and self-expression, working individually, with a partner, or as a group.

Melody Movement also introduces children to other fundamental curriculum learning skills such as counting, colour and shape recognition, vocabulary and language skills.  The strength of the system is that learning is achieved through imaginative movement which is enjoyable and fun.  Melody Movement provides every child with the opportunity to discover and fulfil their own potential whilst nurturing creative development.

As Jill Bridger creator of the Melody Movement Syllabus says, “Melody Movement instils a love of dance making it a positive element of their early lives which stays with them.  They learn from a young age how music, movement, dance and the imagination can be combined to tell a story and convey emotions.”

The syllabus also complements the Early Years Foundation stage. Nannies, caregivers and daddies are absolutely welcome in this class!.

1st Ballet with Melody Bear – Ages 2-4

First Ballet with Melody Bear is the follow-on syllabus to Melody Movement, introducing simple ballet techniques within the creative and nurturing environment of Melody Bear’s world. These ballet classes lay the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of dance. In these classes, children will learn the fundamental techniques of ballet, enhancing their coordination, balance, and strength. Each lesson emphasises grace and poise, providing an inspiring environment for children to explore their potential and develop a sense of artistry.

Our Ballet classes not only focus on technical skills but also foster essential social and emotional growth. Children will work individually, in a pair and together in a supportive group setting, encouraging teamwork and collaboration as they learn to express themselves through movement. This early exposure to ballet instills confidence and discipline, laying a strong foundation for future dance education.

Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves        Ages 2-4

Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves is a combined modern, tap, hip hop, acro syllabus for pre-school children aged 2 to 4 years.  The class plan is a journey on Melody Bear’s Fun Bus stopping at the Games, Number and Musical stop. The final stop is Melody Bear’s Tip Tap Toe stop for lots of fun tap dance ideas including the ‘Boogie Woogie Bend and Bounce’, ‘Magic Shoes’, ‘Disco Bears’, ‘Hawaiian Tap’, ‘Melody Bear’s Cheerleading Song’ and her ‘Line Dancing’ to name a few.

Rhythm and tempo, beats and sounds are explored in fun creative exercises in our early years tap dancing syllabus.

Dance and Movement classes have so many benefits for the Pre-school child:

Gross Motor Development

Gross Motor Development is vital for cognitive development. The more tummy time, crawling etc, the better that your child will develop their cognitive skills eg. pattern recognition and problem solving.

Each of those skills provide the foundation for cognitive development. Each act of motor planning helps to improve brain function. Properly matured vestibular and proprioceptive systems allows them to move safely through their environments. Core strength improves their ability to focus as they get older. Choreography, music exposure, and movement patterns set the stage for puzzles and problem solving, and early math skills.

Scapular and core strength are important for fine motor skills, including writing and drawing. Improved foot and ankle strength improve posture while walking and helps prepare them for athletics should they be interested as they grow.

Teach Early Social Skills

These classes will help your little one develop social skills. Our animated, professional dance instructors use interactive language and expressions to engage your little one.

Exposure to a variety of faces, expressions, tones of voice, and directions helps your child learn how to read different situations. It’s helpful and important for children to see what a happy, excited, serious, etc., face looks like on a variety of people.

Your child is also learning to follow instructions from another adult which helps prepare them for school, sports, and more.
